Operatives of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) arrested a bicycle thief in Novaliches, Quezon City on Tuesday, Sept. 28.
According to police reports, the owner noticed that the door's lock was destroyed and items were missing as he opened his bicycle shop.
The suspect was identified as Bengie De Leon, 30, a resident of Valenzuela City.
De Leon was caught by CCTV cameras in the act of stealing two bicycles worth P41,500 and P20,000 in cash from the store.
Joint forces of QCPD Police Stations 4 and 16 arrested the suspect in a follow-up operation. Recovered from him was one of the stolen bicycles.
In an interview with GMA News, De Leon admitted the crime saying that poverty led him to do it.
The shop owner filed a complaint of robbery with force against the suspect. (Aaron Dioquino)
