
Gary Bejino ended his Tokyo Paralympics campaign Friday with a last-place finish in the men’s 100-meter backstroke S6 at the Tokyo Aquatics Center.
Bejino clocked 1 minute and 28.87 seconds for 20th place, 14.72 seconds behind top qualifier Jia Hongguang of China (1:14.15).
Only the Top 8 swimmers advance to the medal round.
Other qualifiers were Argentina’s Matias de Andrade (1:14.38), Croatia’s Dino Sinovcic (1:16.74), China’s Wang Jingang (1:18.20) and Yang Hong (1:18.57), Netherlands’ Thijs van Hofweegen (1:20.26), France’s Laurent Chardard (1:20.58)and Spain’s David Sanchez Sierra (1:21.14).
This was Bejino’s fourth and last event after finishing 13th in the men’s 400m freestyle S6, 17th in the men’s 200m individual medley SM6 and 14th in the men’s 50m butterfly S6.
