Antipolo LGU places residential area under 14-day granular lockdown

Another residential compound in a village in Antipolo City has been placed under a 14-day granular lockdown after six residents from three different residences manifested symptoms of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Mayor Andrea Ynares, in a Facebook post, said 15 households, comprising of 73 residents are affected by the lockdown on Oliveros Street in Barangay Cupang, Antipolo City.

As of September 2, more than 20 individuals have been swab tested following the discovery of the suspected cases of COVID-19 among the residents in the compound.

During the contact tracing, authorities learned that prior to the manifestation of symptoms among the residents, at least 19 individuals attended a double celebration of a birthday and a christening at the house of the family of a confirmed COVID-19 patient.

At least five areas had earlier been subjected to granular lockdown in the city following the spread of the virus.

The incident of suspected transmission of the dreaded virus among communities has prompted the city government to remind the residents to refrain from holding mass gatherings as a way of preventing the further surge of COVID-19 cases in the city.

As of September 1, the city remains on top of the list among the localities in Rizal Province which have the most number of active cases with 755, and the most number of total confirmed cases with 13,293 cases.

Taytay is on the second spot with 517 active cases followed by Binangonan with 499 cases.
