8.5 M COVID-19 vaccines transported by Cebu Pacific nationwide -- airline exec

Low-cost airline Cebu Pacific said it continues to actively transport COVID-19 vaccines across the country as it brought more than 8.5 million doses to 25 provinces since March this year.

Alex Reyes, Chief Strategy Officer at Cebu Pacific, said more than 900,000 vaccine doses were delivered to San Jose, Ozamiz, Dumaguete, Legazpi, Puerto Princesa, Bacolod, General Santos, Iloilo, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Cotabato, Davao, Roxas, Tawi-Tawi, Dipolog and Zamboanga over the past two weeks.

The local government units (LGUs) of San Jose and Ozamiz were the newest addition to the roster as it received 1,755 Sinovac doses and 100 AstraZeneca doses on Aug 24 and Sept. 2, respectively.

Reyes said Cebu Pacific has also carried COVID-19 vaccines to other destinations such as Bohol, Boracay, Butuan, Cauayan, Kalibo, Masbate, Tacloban, Tuguegarao, and Virac.

“We are one with the government's vaccination drive to reach a sizeable number of inoculated Filipinos as soon as possible,” Reyes said.

“We will continue to distribute vaccines across our widest domestic network," he added.

The airline official said all vaccines were subjected to safety standards and kept in temperature-specific containers to maintain potency and efficacy up until arrival at the designated stations.

He said Cebu Pacific continues to implement a multi-layered approach to safety as it endeavors to restore the public’s trust in air travel.

Cebu Pacific's domestic operations cover 31 destinations on top of its eight international destinations. Its 74-strong fleet, one of the youngest in the world, includes two dedicated ATR freighters and one A330 freighter.
