Robredo to have 'all out' support from opposition if she runs for president—Trillanes
Despite seemingly being impatient with Vice President Leni Robredo’s decision to run for president or not, former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV believes she’s still the best person for the job and promises to go “all out for her.”

“We believe she has the best chance of winning among the members of the opposition. We are going all out for her in case she decides to run,” he said in a recent interview on ANC.
“Once she decides to run for president is (when) we hit the ground running. We focus on winning while I think it is given now if she becomes president, she would do definitely much better than Mr. Duterte and the others,” the chair of the Magdalo Party added.
Trillanes said that “everything will be more systematic” when the vice president decides to join the race.
He gave Robredo until 12 noon of Friday, Oct. 8, the last day of the filing of the Certificate of Candidacy (COC). If she does not file hers, Trillanes will file his candidacy as president.

Trillanes has originally planned to run for president but backed down in case Robredo wants to seek the country’s highest post.
“Let me clarify that it’s not an ultimatum. It’s not a deadline. I was just providing a plan B or contingency plan because VP Leni herself said that her deadline is before Oct. 8. So, we are just aligning the contingency plan with her statement,” he said.
While maintaining the need to unite the opposition, Robredo said she’s giving herself until Oct. 8 to decide if she will join the presidential race or not.
Trillanes stressed that the date he set was “not a threat” because “our proposition is very clear that the opposition is united behind Vice President Leni Robredo.”
The former senator noted that the opposition is “totally respecting her decision-making process.”
“We know it is difficult. but then she herself said by her personal deadline is Oct. 8, so I don’t see any contradiction or conflict in my statement with hers,” Trillanes stressed.

Both Trillanes and Robredo have been nominated by opposition coalition 1Sambayan as possible bets for president or vice president in the 2022 polls.
The vice president, however, is adamant in seeking a united opposition with Manila Mayor Francisco 'Isko Moreno' Domagoso and Senator Emmanuel 'Manny' Pacquiao, who both already announced their candidacy.
Robredo said she believes a unity ticket by the opposition is the best way to defeat the administration’s candidates.
On Wednesday, Sept. 29, the latest Pulse Asia election survey results showed Robredo gaining 2 percentage points from her 6 percent score in June.
