Public warned vs NCs sold online

Beware of fake National Certificates (NC) being sold on social media sites.

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) on Wednesday said it received reports of Facebook groups offering NCs for different technical vocational courses for a certain amount of money.

It added that fake NCs are also being submitted to employers for job requirements.

In a statement, TESDA Secretary Isidro Lapeña said that NCs are only issued by their offices to qualified individuals who have passed the assessment.

When issued, he said, NCs are valid for five years.

“The real NC is not for sale. An individual who passed the competency assessment are entitled to an NC,” Lapeña said.

He then warned the public that employers can verify the authenticity of the NCs.

Lapeña said the agency is also coordinating with the authorities to crackdown the illegal selling of NCs.

“We also urge the public to report to us if they know someone who sells NC, via our hotline, 8887-7777," he said.
