Body of 8th missing fishermen in Visayas sea mishap recovered
The body of the eighth fisherman who was reported missing after their boat capsized between Iloilo and Cebu waters was already retrieved by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
In its report, the PCG said the cadaver was already in its advanced decomposition stage Wednesday.
According to PCG, the remains of Julian Dungog was discovered inside the inner compartment of the sunken FV. ST. PETER FISHERMAN II.
PCG District Western Visayas Commander Commodore Hostillo Cornelio said the body had to be taken through a salvage operation conducted by Tristar Fishing Corporation to ensure the safety of PCG divers from the boat’s debris.

PCG personnel also tried to look for the body of Manuel Auditor, the ninth and last missing fishermen, inside the ship's net as he might be trapped there but to no avail. A survivor during the incident recalled that Auditor was using his cellphone on the upper deck of their vessel when the incident happened.
The bodies of seven other fishermen who went missing after their boat capsized due to strong winds and big waves between the waters off Tanguingui Island in Cebu and Gigantes Island in Iloilo on Friday, Sep. 24, were already recovered over the weekend. A total of 22 others survived the sea mishap.
PCG said it is already ending its five-day search and retrieval operations but asked fishermen in the area to monitor possible sightings of Auditor's body for necessary measure and proper disposition.
