Another buy-bust operation yields P1.3-M shabu in Taguig

Operatives from the Philippine National Police’s Southern Police District (SPD) and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) confiscated P1.3 million worth of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) in a follow-up operation in Taguig Wednesday afternoon.

The police conducted the operation at ARCA South in Barangay Western Bicutan at about 3:30 p.m., resulting in the arrest of suspects Shanilyn Hacog, 42, and Filomino Paswif, 40, both scrap collectors and residents of PNR Site FTI Compound in Western Bicutan.

SPD director Brig. Gen. Jimili Macaraeg said the suspects were connected with the personalities in the armed encounter and dismantling of a drug den at PNR Site, Western Bicutan on Sept. 28.

Confiscated from Hacog and Paswif were three plastic sachets containing shabu weighing about 200 grams with an estimated value of P1.3 million.

The police will file charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 against the two suspects.

"The anti-illegal drugs campaign of SPD will spare no one, pandemic or no pandemic," said Macaraeg.

The Taguig police conducted a buy-bust operation Tuesday in Purok 9, PNR Site, Western Bicutan. It resulted in the arrest of suspects Juan Tenerife, 40; Jose Odabar, 27; and Emily Respecio, 32.

During the encounter, Tenerife accidentally shot Lorne Basilan, 57, who the Taguig police said was the alleged drug den owner. Basilan was rushed to the Taguig-Pateros District Hospital but she was declared dead on arrival.

The police confiscated about 67 grams of shabu with an estimated value of P455,600.
