Aksyon Demokratiko in talks with six senatoriables

The Aksyon Demokratiko on Wednesday confirmed it is in talks with Senator Joel Villanueva, former Senators Loren Legarda, Francis “Chiz” Escudero, and JV Ejercito, Rep. Vilma Santos, and former vice president Noli de Castro to join the party's senatorial slate.

Lito Banayo, campaign manager of Aksyon Demokratiko said the talks with the six senatoriables form part of the efforts of Aksyon Demokratiko party to recruit members as well as forge unity in the opposition.

"Nakikipagusap sa amin. Ayaw namin pangunahan sila, I can say na talagang nakikipagusap sa amin. May kanya kanyang timetable yan eh, may mga personal commitments na dapat pa nilang ayusin. I can confirm naguusap kami (We're talking. But we don't want to jump the gun on them. I can say that we are talking. They all have their timetable, there are commitments that they still have to fix. I can confirm that we are talking)," he said in an interview with DZMM Teleradyo.

Banayo also said Aksyon Demokratiko is open to guest candidates from other political parties.

"May mga iba ding nakikipagusap. Pero malapit na ang deadline, yung pakikipagusap hindi ko naman na-ta-track down. Kaibigan nila yung nasa kabilang kampo, siguro nagpapaalam sila. Nagpapasintabi sila., things like those. We have to consider, we have to give them ample time, space to arrange their personal engagements (There are also others who are in talks with us. But the deadline is getting near and I haven't been able to keep track on the talks. Some are friends with the other camp, maybe they are saying goodbye. Things like those. Banayo also said a member of the Liberal Party has expressed intention to move to Aksyon.

He added there are many who want to join Aksyon Demokratiko because of the candidates.

Manila Mayor Francisko "Isko Moreno" Domagoso was officially named as Aksyon Demokratiko's standard bearer during the party's national convention on Monday, Sept 27.

On the same day, Samira Gutoc and Carl Balita also formally accepted Aksyon Demokratiko's nomination to join its senatorial line-up

Domagoso officially announced his presidential bid in the 2022 national elections on Sept. 22.
