Civic leader Samira Gutoc will rely on her young supporters and the digital space in her senatorial bid in the 2022 national elections.

"Sa supporters ko naman po, I rely on young people na alam naman nila na wala akong big funding machine for major advertisements. Hingi nga ata ako maririnig parati, salamat dito (I will rely on my young people supporters because they know that I don't have big funds for major advertisements. Maybe I will not be heard always but thank you for this interview)," Gutoc said in an interview with DZMM Teleradyo on Tuesday (Sept. 28).
Gutoc joined the Aksyon Demokratiko party's senatorial slate on Monday (Sept. 27).
She is also a co-founder and chairperson of Ako Bakwit, Inc. a group that aims to protect the rights and welfare of Internally Displaced Persons (IDP), particularly those affected by the Marawi siege.
Gutoc shared her experience with Dr. Willie Ong, the Vice Presidential candidate of Aksyon, during their medical missions.
"Since crisis worker nga 'yung experience ko, Zamboanga siege nakasama ko siya for the past two years sa grupo kong Ako Bakwit at grabe po talaga 'yung immersion niya bumaba po siya sa mga komunidad, NCR, Manila Estero, Quiapo, so nakasama na namin 'yung grupo niya na nagmedical mission (Since I'm a crisis worker, my experience in the Zamboanga siege. I worked with him for the past two years in my group Ako Bakwit and he was immersed in the communities in NCR, Manila, Quiapo. His group was with us when we had our medical missions)," she said in an interview with DZMM Teleradyo.
She also said that she saw leadership skills in Ong in the medical missions they did together.
According to Gutoc, other candidates from the party have yet to decide when they will file their Certificate of Candidacy (COC).
Gutoc said she would seek "divine guidance" on what day she will file her COC.
