Filipino students win int'l business case tilt

Students from the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P) made history as the first-ever Filipino team to emerge as Grand Champion of the Asian Business Case Competition (ABCC), held on Sept. 11.

Established in 2007, the ABCC is an annual business case competition focusing on sustainable business management in Asia organized by the Nanyang Business School.

Since its inception in 2007, it has partnered with over 100 educational institutions -- becoming one of the most prestigious case competitions both in Asia and around the world.

UA&P students Scott Gabriel Tiamson, Ethan Gabriel Lee, Regina Maria Padojinog, and Marco Antonio Agonia ranked first in the competition, outperforming a joint team of students from the University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, National University of Singapore, University of New South Wales, and Chulalongkorn University.

Meanwhile, Singapore Management University placed second, and the University of Belgrade ranked third.

UA&P's second team composed of Josh Cody Ong, Anna Maria Grio, Jose Olaes Genson II, and Arielle Keithley Mirandilla also placed within the top nine of ABCC.

The victory marks the first time in the 13-year history of the event that a Filipino team has won the tilt. This places them alongside previous champions from globally-ranked universities such as the University of Toronto, the University of New South Wales, and the University of Southern California.
