The typhoon with the international name "Mindulle" continues to move slowly and may enter the country's area of responsibility on Tuesday, Sept. 28, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its tropical cyclone advisory on Monday, Sept. 27.

As of 10 a.m., Monday, the center of the eye of typhoon Mindulle was estimated at 1,590 kilometers (km) east of extreme northern Luzon.

The typhoon has slightly weakened but was still packing maximum sustained winds of 175 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 215 kph while moving slowly northward.

Based on the latest forecast, PAGASA said Mindulle is likely to enter the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on Tuesday, and exit the PAR on Wednesday, Sept. 29. Mindulle will be given a local name "Lannie" once inside the PAR.

"Typhoon Mindulle is forecast to move slowly northeastward today (Sept. 27) through tomorrow morning (Sept. 28). A turn to the north-northwest is expected tomorrow evening through Wednesday (Sept. 29) morning, gradually accelerating in the process," PAGASA said.

However, it pointed out that the weather disturbance remains less likely to directly affect the country's weather condition throughout the forecast period but may cause moderate to rough seas over the northern and eastern seaboards of Luzon.

"Sea travel will be risky for those using small sea crafts. Mariners are advised to take precautionary measures when venturing out to sea and, if possible, avoid navigating in these conditions," it advised.

PAGASA said that partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rain showers will prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of the country in the next 24 hours.

The public is advised to take precautions against possible flash floods or landslides especially during the occurrence of severe thunderstorms that are often associated with short-lived heavy rains.
