St. Paul University community decries 'culture of corruption'
"It is time to raise our voices as one against the culture of corruption that has engulfed our hapless country."
This was the message of the St. Paul University (SPU) Manila community as it called for an end to the "culture of corruption" in the Philippines.

"The time to speak is now. Lest we fail in our mission to bring the Good News to our neighbors. Lest we deceive ourselves into thinking that this is a reality that we just have to accept because there is nothing we can do," SPU Manila said in a statement.
"Lest we rob our children and grandchildren of a future with a just and compassionate society, a dynamic and caring Church, a moral and incorruptible government," it continued.
The SPU community also lauded expressed admiration for the Ateneo de Manila University and De La Salle University "for leading the initiative to awaken a society that is pretending to be asleep."
Earlier, institutions under the De La Salle Philippines hit Ombudsman Samuel Martires after denying the public access to President Duterte's statement of assets, liabilities, and net worth (SALN).
Meanwhile, SPU community also urged the public to rally behind Ateneo alumnus Senator Richard "Dick" Gordon "for being fearless and steadfast in his search for truth."
Alumni groups from the Ateneo de Manila University threw support for Gordon "for his courageous efforts in weeding out scalawags who have allegedly stolen billions of our taxpayers' money."
