Samira Gutoc, Carl Balita join Aksyon Demokratiko's 2022 senatorial slate

The Aksyon Demokratiko party has named its first two senatorial candidates for the 2022 national elections.

Civic leader Samira Gutoc and radio program host Carl Balita joined the senatorial slate of Aksyon Demokratiko, according to Julius Leonen, Domagoso's media director.

Gutoc, an advocate for peace and rights of women and Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) was elected as a member of the party last August.

She was also named by The Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre in Jordan as among the 500 Most Influential Muslims in the world.

Gutoc is also a co-founder and chairperson of Ako Bakwit, Inc. a group that aims to protect the rights and welfare of IDPs, particularly those affected by the Marawi siege.

Balita is a radio program host and educator entrepreneur. He also founded several groups of companies in the country such as Dr Carl E. Balita Review Center and Ultimate Creatives LYF Center Inc.
