Palace tells Trillanes: 'Do what you want to do'

Malacañang told administration critic former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV that he is free to do whatever he wants to do with his political career.

Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque made the statement after Trillanes gave Vice President Leni Robredo an ultimatum to make a decision by October 8 or he will run for president in the 2022 elections.

Robredo is yet to make up her mind if she will run for president next year or not as she is still trying to form a unified opposition ticket.

In his press briefing on Monday, September 27, Roque was asked if the Palace had any message for Trillanes after he revealed his plan.

"Wala po. Bakit naman ako magmemensahe sa kanya (I have none. Why would I leave him a message)?" he said.

Instead, the Palace official said Trillanes can do whatever he wants to do regarding the upcoming elections.

"Bahala siya sa buhay niya. Gawin niya ang gusto niya (It's up to him. He's free to do what he wants)," he said.

Like with other candidates who recently announced their candidacy, Roque said Trillanes has the right to pursue any elective post, even wishing him luck in his endeavors

"Karapatan naman niya yung tumakbo (It's his right to run in the elections)," he said.

"Good luck," he added.

Trillanes is known to be one of the staunchest critics of the Duterte administration.
