Onic Philippines showed total dominance over Nexplay Evos with a lopsided 2-0 victory to get back on the winning track in the MPL Philippines Season 8 on Sunday, Sept. 26
Coming off a stunning 2-0 defeat at the hands of BREN Esports, Kairi “Kairi” Rayosdelsol came up huge with a perfect 6-0-2 KDA on his Ling in Game 1. Kairi set the tone for the first game romp with an early five kills with only six minutes passed the game timer.
“The Future” quickly snowballed as he took control of the jungle against his counterpart in John Paul "H2WO" Salonga's Alucard. Marky "Markyyy" Capacio on his gold lane Kimmy also had the space he needed to quickly get his items to finish with five assists. Gerald "Dlarskie" Trinchera on his Yu Zhong, meanwhile, added three kills and two assists against a death in the series opener which only lasted 11 minutes and with a 10-2 tally.
Kairi followed up his Game 1 performance with another explosive game of eight kills and six assists against three deaths on his Karina jungle pick which curiously utilized a full defensive build in Game 2. Dlarskie on his Paquito, however, was the biggest torn to the side of NXPE as his deep dives disrupted opposing team’s position.
He bagged the MVP honors with a 6-1-6 KDA all while closing the gap to negate H2WO’s jungle Natan pick. Onic never looked back since then as they closed out the series with another dominant showing, 22- 16.
Johnwin “Hesa” Vergara on his gold lane Lunox was the lone bright spot for NXPE scattering seven kills and three assists against three deaths in Game 2. Those, however, was still not enough as his team absorbed their second straight defeat and fell to 3-6 standing at the sixth spot with 11 points.
Onic, meanwhile, strengthened its hold of the second spot with a 7-4 record for 22 points to get a chance to take an upper bracket spot in the playoffs.
