One person died and nine fishermen were reported missing following two separate sea mishaps in the Visayas over the weekend.
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said Saturday, Sep. 25, that 33-year-old Raquel Alo was found dead after two-and-a-half hour of search and rescue operation (SAR) under several cargoes carried by MV LITE FERRY 3 after their passenger ship or RoRo submerged before being able to dock at Ormoc Port in Leyte.
The incident happened around 11:50 p.m., when the ship encountered trouble while conducting a docking maneuver, PCG said.

PCG personnel immediately conducted an operation that led to the rescue of 16 crew members of the distressed vessel.
Meanwhile, in the waters between the Tanguingui Island in Cebu and Gigantes Island in Iloilo provinces, nine fishermen are still missing as of Saturday morning after their boat sank due to strong winds and big waves.
They were part of the 31 crew members of FV ST. PETER THE FISHERMAN II that listed to its port side or left side before sinking around 1 a.m. of Friday, Sep. 24.

The missing crew were identified as: Frankie Chavez, Norberto Parlotzo, Renate Forsuelo, Victor Calvo, Herminio Ronamo, Manuel Auditor, Rommel Engle, Julit Salvo and Julian Dungog.
The 22 remaining crew members were rescued by crew members of sister vessel FV OLD MAN AND THE SEA in the afternoon of the same day.
THE PCG launched an aerial search and rescue at around 8:25 a.m. of Saturday to continue finding the whereabouts of the missing fishermen.
