Pasay City LGU, DOLE launch 'Bikecinnation' project for displaced workers

The Pasay City government, in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), launched the “Bikecinnation” project that will help displaced workers in the city affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano said 28 displaced workers in the city were chosen by the Pasay City Public Employment Services Office (PESO) to become the beneficiaries of the “Bikecinnation” project.

Rubiano said the bicycles, which cost P10,000 each, are equipped with a carrier, raincoat, water canteens, flashlight, reflectorized vest and helmet that can be used by the beneficiaries as delivery vehicle for their chosen business.

She said that aside from the bicycles, the beneficiaries were also given Lenovo cellular phones with free P5,000 load.

Rubiano thanked DOLE Secretary Silvestre “Bebot” Bello III for partnering with the city government to help the displaced workers in the city through the “Bikecinnation” program.

Rubiano said the awarding of the 28 bicycles was conducted on Tuesday (September 21) at the Epifanio Elementary School.

She said the project has been extended and called on other displaced workers to apply at the city’s PESO.

The mayor said the applicants must be a Pasay City resident displaced by the pandemic and must be fully vaccinated.
