Conquering the skies: PCG to build own airbase in Negros Occidental

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) will build an airbase in Negros Occidental to strengthen the agency's aerial presence in the province.

Captain Ludovico Librilla, deputy commander of PCG District Western Visayas, signed on Thursday, Sept. 23, a deed of usufruct for the establishment of the new airbase on a donated land.

Librilla was accompanied by Manuel Lamata, who donated a 30-square-meter portion of the land he owns in Barangay Luna in Cadiz town, during the ceremonial signing.

According to Librilla, the future airbase will allow PCG to do aircraft landing and refueling during flight missions.

The airbase will also allow PCG personnel to restock their materials for logistical missions such as search and rescue (SAR) operations, reconnaissance, aerial surveys, and aerial domain awareness.

“We are grateful to Mr. Lamata for donating a portion of his lot in support of the PCG’s mission to serve the nation with patriotism, compassion, and fear of God,” Librilla said.
