'Isko Moreno' has right to seek presidency, says Roque; shrugs off 'threat' to Go-Duterte tandem
Malacañang says Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso's decision to run for president in the 2022 elections was well within his rights.

Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque made the statement after Moreno that he will run for president in the 2022 polls with physician Willie Ong as his running mate.
In his press briefing on Thursday, September 23, Roque had no specific reaction to the development in the upcoming elections.
"Ang masasabi ko lang po talagang karapatan ng lahat ng Pilipino na tumakbo sa eleksyon (What I can say is that it is the right of every Filipino to run in the elections)," he said.
"Karapatan nilang bumoto at iboto (It's their right to vote and be voted for)," he added.
Meanwhile, Roque said he cannot tell if the Moreno-Ong tandem will be a threat to the possible team-up of President Duterte and his long-time aide Senator Bong Go as PDP-Laban's bets for vice president and president, respectively.
"Hindi ko po alam kung may (I don't even know if there will be a) Go-Duterte tandem. So I cannot make any comparison," he said.
Early this month, Roque referred to Moreno's call to buy more coronavirus (COVID-19 medicines than face shields was meant to "court voters" as the latter is seen running in next year's polls.
"Kandidato rin ‘yan. Mark my word (He will be a candidate. Mark my word)," he said on September 6.
"Hindi pa nag-aanunsyo ‘yan, pero sigurado akong kandidato (He is not just announcing it yet but I'm sure he will run)," he added.
Last month, it was thought that President Duterte was attacking Moreno after the Chief Executive slammed the unnamed mayor for his sexy photos during his last public address on August 9.
Duterte likewise removed the unnamed mayor's authority to distribute financial assistance and ordered the departments of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to take charge of the activity.
He further slammed the local chief executive and said he had training for "call boys."
Malacañang has refused to confirm if Duterte was referring to the Manila Mayor.
"Wala po akong narinig na pambabatikos laban kay Mayor Isko na nanggaling sa bibig ni Presidente (I have not heard President Duterte criticize Mayor Isko)," Roque had said.
In June this year, Roque said that Moreno was actually one of the names President Duterte had in mind when the latter was asked about his thoughts on the presidency.
