'Badjao Girl' teases about joining Miss Universe PH

Young star Rita Gaviola has declared that she's trying her luck in pageantry soon!

On Instagram, Rita said: "Soon sasali na tayo sa miss u."

However, the statement of the 18-year-old Badjao Girl quickly received mixed reactions.

Many believe it's "too early" for her to join pageants.

Some even advised her to improve her communication skills first. Â

"Sobrang ganda mo na po... Ang kailangan mo nalang ngayon is to gain confidence and knowledge so you can answer well on q&a... Goodluck...," one commented.

Amid the bashing, Rita shared inspiring words on her latest post.

"Beauty is not flawless it shines even though your flaws, #miss u universe soon," it read.

Rita first rose to fame as a teen housemate during the seventh season of the popular reality TV series "Pinoy Big Brother."

Among her colleagues on "Lucky Season 7" who make it big in showbiz were Maymay Entrata, Vivoree Esclito, Marco Gallo, Edward Barber, Heaven Peralejo, and Kisses Delavin, who's coincidentally among this year's Miss Universe Philippines finalists.
