WATCH: Nicole Richie's hair catches fire while blowing birthday candles

It's her 40th birthday, too!

"The Simple Life" socialite Nicole Richie turned 40 years old on Sept. 21. Donning styled curls that touched her shoulder blades, she blew out the candles on her birthday cake but didn't expect for her hair to catch fire.

The guest beside her helped tapped out the fire from her locks. Nicole, on the other hand, screamed and laughed at the unexpected fiasco. It was a short clip but we're hoping it was nothing serious as the video showed the flames getting bigger on the other side of her face.
