Streets, sitios in 4 Paranaque City barangays under granular lockdown


The Paranaque City government placed several streets and sitios in four barangays in the city under granular lockdown from Sept. 20 to Oct. 4 on the recommendation of the City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU).

Engr. Tere Quiogue, supervising environmental specialist management of the City Environment and Natural Resources (CENRO), Dr. Darius Sebastian, CESU chief, recommended to City Administrator Atty. Fernando Soriano placing the streets and sitios under granular lockdown due to the high number of individuals who contracted COVID-19.

Quiogue said these areas are barangays Baclaran, Moonwalk, San Martin de Porres, and BF Homes.

She said the CENRO team immediately conducted containment and disinfection in the affected areas, particularly those identified by Sebastian to have record high COVID-19 cases.

The CENRO said the whole stretch of GG Cruz and J. Correa Streets in Barangay Baclaran were identified by the CESU as 12 families there or about 80 individuals are affected by the lockdown.

The CESU reported on September 20 a total of 56 individuals in Barangay Baclaran who contracted the virus.

Quiogue said San Agustin Village in Barangay Moonwalk recorded 150 cases of COVID-19 affecting 225 families or about 1,350 individuals.

In Barangay BF Homes, 13 streets were placed under granular lockdown namely, Sunkist, Guyabano, Bayabas, Dalandan,Calamansi, Mangga,Kahel, Aratiles, Apple, Avocado, Kasoy, Macopa, and Sampaloc II. The barangay recorded a total of 385 COVID-19 cases.

The last barangay placed under granular was the main street and alleys of Sitio de Asis in San Martin de Porres with a total of 78 cases of COVID-19.

Mayor Edwin Olivarez on Tuesday inspected the barangays placed under granular lockdown and ordered the distribution of food packs to the affected families.
