New LPA forms, brings rains over S. Luzon, W. Visayas -- PAGASA

A new low pressure area (LPA) that is embedded within the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) was located off the waters of Dumaran, Palawan on Tuesday morning, Sept. 21, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

PAGASA said the LPA, along with the ITCZ, may bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan, Aklan, Antique, Iloilo, Guimaras, and Negros Occidental.

Weather specialist Ariel Rojas said the LPA has a slim chance of intensifying into a tropical depression as it may dissipate in the next several hours.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy conditions but with possible isolated rain showers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening.

PAGASA advised the public to take precautions against possible flash floods or landslides especially during the occurrence of severe thunderstorms that are often associated with short-lived heavy rains.

Rojas said PAGASA does not expect the formation of a tropical cyclone inside the Philippine area of responsibility in the next two to three days.

The State weather bureau has also not issued any gale warning on Tuesday morning as coastal water conditions remain slight to moderate.

Fisherfolk and those using small sea boats are safe to sail, it added.
