Supporters still hopeful Mayor Sara will run for president

DAVAO CITY – Supporters of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte are urging her to reconsider her decision not to run as president in the 2022 elections.

In the Facebook page of Hugpong Para kay Sara and Ituloy ang Pagbabago Movement, Duterte’s supporters said they are determined to support and nominate Mayor Sara as president in 2022.

Jim Mindorosaid that as much as they respect the agreement that Mayor Sara made with her father, President Rodrigo Duterte that only one of them will run for a national position in next year's election, her supporters would still want her to become the next president.

“Your supporters here in Australia and New Zealand believe that you, Mayor Sara, should be the next President of the Philippines,” Mindoro said.

Mindoro said Mayor Sara is an outstanding and very smart leader. He added that her love and care for the Filipino people make her the leader that the Philippines needs.

“Please think about these millions of Filipino people. What will happen to them in the hands of corrupt and greedy politicians? What will happen to the country? Who is going to continue sa mga nagawa ng aming mahal na pangulo Tatay Digong?” he said.

Mindoro said Mayor Sara’s supporters believe that she is the only hope of the country.

Over 10,000 supporters from the Philippines, Middle East, Canada, United States of Hugpong Para kay Sara vowed to support her should she decide to run for president in 2022.

Mayor Sara had earlier said she would not run for national office after her father accepted the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan’s support to be its vice-presidential candidate in the 2022 elections, with Senator Christopher “Bong” Go as its presidential candidate.
