Robredo says her daughters aren't the type to 'settle' for bad boyfriends

Some girls settle for less than what they deserve when it comes to relationships. However, Vice President Leni Robredo is confident that her three daughters aren't like those girls.

Robredo, a widow, bared in an interview over the weekend with broadcaster Karen Davila that it's all thanks to the former's late husband, Jesse Robredo, that their daughters know how to choose Mr. Right--when the proper time comes, of course.

"Ako Karen very confident ako pagdating doon (You know Karen I'm very confident when it comes to that)," answered the lady official when Davila asked her whether or not she was strict about boyfriends when it comes to her kids.

"Nakita nila yung papa (Jesse) nila, nakita nila kung ano yung pagkatao, nakita nila kung paano ako i-treat (They saw their papa, they saw his personality, they saw how he treated me)," she said as her eldest daughter, Aika, listened on.

"So ako, very confident ako na hindi sila magse-settle for somebody na hindi sila iti-treat the same way na tinreat ako ni Jess (So I'm very confident that they won't settle for somebody who won't treat them the way Jess treated me)," Robredo said.

Aika, 33, has two sisters--Tricia, 27; and Jillian, 21. Robredo described them as all "papas' girls".

If the couple's remarkable love story is any indication, Jesse treated Leni like gold. It's no surprise then that, even after Jesse's death, the Vice President has no intention of replacing him in her heart.

"Did you talk to your daughters about sex?" Davila asked next in a very nonchalant manner. She noted that most mothers simply didn't know how to raise the topic with their daughters.

Robredo answered: "No...At least yung school na pinanggalingan nila, meron silang subject na dini-discuss yun (At least the school they came from, they have a subject that discussed that)."

"Never ka nag-worry? (You never worried?)" Davila asked in a follow-up.

"Ah hindi. Kasi sobrang assertive ng mga anak ko. So ako I don't malalagay sila sa sitwasyon na gagawa sila ng something na hindi nila gusto (No. Because my children are very assertive. So I don't think they will be placed in a situation wherein they would do something that they didn't want to do)," the single mom said, again exuding how much trust she has in her three kids.

The entire interview can be viewed on Davila's YouTube page.
