PH Red Cross remains unstoppable in the fight against COVID-19
Despite the numerous challenges brought by the ongoing coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) continues to work tirelessly by reaching out to the most vulnerable.
“Kahit anong mangyari, hinding hindi titigil ang Red Cross (No matter what happens, the Red Cross will never stop),” PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Senator Richard Gordon in a statement issued Monday, Sept. 20.
“Our goal is to address hunger and the added protection of the general public as we continue our effort to Win our War against COVID-19,” Gordon added.
At the forefront of the country’s fight against COVID-19, PRC continues to play a major role in the National COVID-19 Vaccination Initiative.
Among its recent efforts is vaccinating at least 34,000 in Cebu composed of COVID-19 priority groups through its “Bakuna Buses” and “Bakuna Centers.”

As of Sept. 20, PRC Cebu Chapter Administrator Vera De Jesus said that a total of 33,998 individuals were vaccinated by Cebu Chapter in the “Bakuna Center” at Apo Gym in Naga City and “Bakuna Buses.” In Cebu, PRC has three “Bakuna Buses” that are moving around different cities and municipalities.
De Jesus explained that PRC was able to vaccinate several priority groups including persons deprived of liberty from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in the City of Talisay for the South, and the City of Bogo for the north as well as individuals from the Drug Rehabilitation Center: Journey for Recovery.
On Sept. 18, the PRC also vaccinated a total of 3,055 individuals through its vaccination centers and buses. Overall, the PRC has vaccinated 233,142 individuals in its 21 “Bakuna Centers” and 16 “Bakuna Buses” nationwide.
On Sept. 16, PRC also opened up its 21st “Bakuna Center” in Robinsons Ilocos Norte to cater to those residing in the municipality of San Nicholas and other nearby areas.

By the end of the day, 399 people were vaccinated by the PRC staff and volunteers from PRC Ilocos Norte Chapter.
To register for vaccination, interested individuals may call 1158 or send an email at [email protected].
“Mabisa ang lahat ng bakuna at nakakaligtas ito ng buhay (All vaccines are effective and they save lives),” Gordon said.
“Hinihikayat ko ang lahat ng Pilipino na magpabakuna na ngayon, ito ang ating solution sa COVID-19 (I encourage all Filipinos to get vaccinated now, this is our solution to COVID-19),” he ended.
