DFA reports three more overseas Filipinos die of COVID-19


Three more overseas Filipinos died of COVID-19 infections over the previous week, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Monday.

In a weekly bulletin, the DFA recorded 41 new COVID-19 cases and 63 new recoveries among Filipinos abroad for the same period.

This brings the total number of confirmed Covid cases among overseas Filipinos since the start of the pandemic in February last year to 23,156.

Of this total, 8,380 are undergoing treatment, 13,391 have recovered while 1,385 died due to the virus.

The DFA noted that there has been a consistent increase in the number of recoveries compared to new cases in the last three weeks. No new cases were recorded in Europe and America.

An accompanying graph of the weekly report showed that the Middle East and Africa continue to be the combined regions with the highest number of COVID-19 cases among Filipinos at 13,014, followed by the Asia Pacific Region with 5,455, Europe with 3,651, and the Americas with 1,036.

The DFA assured that they will continue to monitor and assist Filipino nationals abroad amidst the pandemic.
