COVID-infected employees can apply for cash aid through courier service — ECC

Workers who had been infected by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) can now apply for a financial assistance to the Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC) even without going to their office.

In its latest advisory, ECC said employees who tested positive for COVID-19 may now submit their application for cash assistance through a courier service.

Applicants should send the required documents such as a proof of approved employees’ compensation (EC) claim from the Social Security System or Government Service Insurance System, an accomplished cash assistance form, and copies of two government issued valid identification cards.

They will also be required to submit any of the following documents: medical or quarantine certificate, RT-PCR positive test result, rapid antigen test result with medical certificate of confirmed COVID-19 illness, or EC logbook entry/official incident report.

For death claims, applicants must include death certificate and marriage or birth certificate of dependents or CENOMAR (Certificate of No Marriage Record) and birth certificate, if deceased is single.

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) announced in April this year that the ECC board has approved the inclusion of COVID-19 in its list of occupational and work-related diseases.

With this, beneficiaries may receive cash aid amounting to P10,000. The ECC board, chaired by Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III had already requested to increase the financial aid to P30,000 and is now pending approval of President Duterte.

ECC is a government corporation attached to the DOLE mandated to provide appropriate compensation to workers and their dependents in the event of work-related contingencies such as sickness, injury, disability, or death.
