Another Miss Universe PH 2021 bet withdraws from pageant due to COVID-19

Another Miss Universe Philippines 2021 candidate will no longer compete in the pageant.

In a lengthy post on Instagram, Ybonne Ortega of Davao City revealed the reason why she was "missing in action" for almost a week, along with Krizzaleen Valencia of Davao Occidental.

Ybonne said she was tested positive for COVID-19.

"Even when people really want it to but eventually it will because God’s timing is always perfect. Have faith and trust His delays," she said.

"It breaks my heart that I won’t be able to formally compete in the Miss Universe Philippines 2021."

According to her, even before meeting the MUPh team and co-candidates, she had tested positive for COVID-19.

She kept quiet, hoping that her situation would change and retesting would result in negative results. "Unfortunately, this is not yet my time to compete in the final stretch of the MUPh pageant."

"The worst part about this experience is not about being positive. It was about those negative individuals who try to drag you down or spread false information while you’re trying to do your best," Ybonne said.

Despite the short experience, it was also "very exciting," particularly, when she came across with "so many amazing people" in different industries, she said.

"They had supported me in the most special ways from the beginning up until now. Your efforts are immensely treasured.

"I am thankful for being an official delegate and for all the support I have received from the MUPh Organization, my city, and my fans. I am not closing my doors to the possibility of joining again in the future," said she. "Surely, it’s not the end of it. Instead, this is when my life will never be the same again. I will definitely come back better, stronger, and more ready to conquer the national stage."

"This is your Miss Universe Philippines 2021 - Davao City, urging everyone to stay safe and healthy. Let us continue to pray for healing and peace during this time of uncertainty," Ybonne added.

Krizzaleen made it to Miss Universe Philippines 2021 bubble in Pampanga.

Prior, Joanna Marie Rabe from Zambales also bowed out of the competition due to dengue fever.
