Seven areas in Caloocan City under granular lockdown due to COVID-19 surge

The Caloocan City government announced on Thursday that Barangay 123 and four other areas in the city will be placed under granular lockdown starting September 3 due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases.

Magsaysay street between Serrano and 6th streets of Barangay 123 and Panay, Guinugitan, Masbate, and Victoria and H. Dela Costa Homes in Barangay 179 will be under granular lockdown starting 12:01 a.m. on September 3 until 11:59 p.m. on September 9.

The City health department has reported six active cases with 119 close contacts from at least 27 families in Barangay 123.

The other areas have 10 active cases and at least 43 close contacts.

Mayor Oca Malapitan assured that all affected residents will be provided with food packs.

Disinfection procedures will be conducted in the areas under granular lockdown.

"Pinulong natin kahapon ang mga kapitan ng apektadong mga barangay upang kaagad na makapaghanda at maabisuhan ang mga residente. Sa ating mga mamamayan, patuloy po tayong humihingi ng pang-unawa at kooperasyon upang mapigilan natin ang patuloy na hawahan at pagdami ng mga tinatamaan ng sakit (We met yesterday with the chairmen of the affected barangays to immediately prepare and notify the residents. We appeal to our people for understanding and cooperation so that we can stop the transmission of the disease)," he said.
