PNP: 2 riders in viral Zambales motorcycle stunts are cops

The Philippine National Police (PNP) confirmed on Thursday, Sept. 2, that the two riders who were seen doing dangerous motorcycle stunts on a highway in Zambales are policemen assigned in Central Luzon.

PNP chief Gen. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar said that the two policemen were identified during the investigation conducted by both the Police Regional Office 3 and the Highway Patrol Group (HPG).

They were Police Chief Master Sgt. Israel Bondoc and Police Master Sgt. Manuel Tolentino.

The two cops were already confronted by operatives of the HPG Central Luzon but Eleazar said investigation will still be conducted as part of the disciplinary measures in the police organization.

Bondoc and Tolentino were shown in the video doing motorcycle stunts which some netizens described as irresponsible due to blatant violations on traffic rules and regulations on road safety.

The video went viral and some of the netizens tagged Eleazar in his social media account as there were reports that the motorcycle riders are members of the PNP.

After watching the video, Eleazar immediately ordered the conduct of investigation, saying what the two riders did were dangerous and clearly put the safety of other motorists, commuters and pedestrians at risk.

Eleazar said he expects an immediate result of the investigation and imposition of appropriate penalty for the two policemen.

“Let this serve as a warning that we will not tolerate this kind of misbehavior because as police officers, we should serve as the role models in abiding the laws that include traffic rules and regulations,” said Eleazar.
