Pasay City LGU nears completion of COVID vaccination

Pasay Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano said the city government has vaccinated 80 percent of its target population to stop the spread and bring down the number of cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Rubiano reported that 80 percent of the 70 percent of the city's targeted population had been inoculated.

She said the turnout of the vaccination has been smooth and continued even as the National Capital Region was placed under the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) and 80 percent of the targeted population has been inoculated.

The mayor said the city recorded a low turnout for vaccination in three barangays. She added that the number of cases has slightly gone down in the city in the past few days compared to the previous weeks.

The decreasing number of COVID-19 cases also resulted in fewer barangays being placed under localized or granular lockdowns.

“Mula pa sa 125 barangay ay bumaba na po sa 120 barangay na may mga kabahayang naka-localized lockdown (From 125 barangays placed under localized lockdown, it went down to 120)," Rubiano said.

She said localized lockdowns do not mean that entire barangays have been closed. Only specific and targeted households or streets where there are noticeable high number of cases are the ones that are locked down.

The mayor added that all households that have been placed under granular lockdowns are being provided with all their necessary needs especially food consisting of not only canned goods but also fresh produce like vegetables, meat, and fruits.

Rubiano said the city also noticed a slight drop in the number of patients at the Pasay City General Hospital (PCGH).

She clarified that while the PCGH is already full, it is not turning away patients. Many of those who were rushed to the PCGH are receiving triage and treatment in tents just outside the hospital.

As of September 1, the city has 935 active cases which is slightly lower than the 945 recorded the previous day.

The city government is conducting active contact tracing, RT-PCR testing, isolation, and treatment to prevent and control the spread of the virus in the city.
