The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has rescued two wild birds in Metro Manila and Rizal province that got lost from the forest, the agency reported Thursday, Sep. 2.
DENR said its "environment frontliners" attended to a crested serpent eagle (Spilornis cheela) that "crashed through" a house under construction in San Mateo on August 16 as well as to a falcon (Falco peregrinus) that was reported to have hit a windshield of a vehicle in Taguig City on the same day.

The rescued birds were immediately brought to the DENR-Biodiversity Management Bureau (BMB) office in Quezon City for physical examination, where they were found to be in good health. They were then released back in the wild after several days of treating their minor wounds.
DENR Sec. Roy Cimatu lauded the successful rescue of the two wildlife species, which was led by the DENR Action Center and DENR-BMB.
