San Carlos, Negros Occidental Bishop Gerardo Alminaza has tested positive again for coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the Diocese of San Carlos announced on Sunday, Sept. 19.
"I regret to inform the faithful that Most. Rev. Gerardo A. Alminaza, DD., Bishop of San Carlos has been tested positive for COVID-19 again," said Diocese of San Carlos Chancellor Fr. Marjun Almario in a statement.
"He is asymptomatic. However, he is required to isolate himself for the time being," added Almario.
Alminaza also contracted the viral illness last June.
Almario urged the close contacts of Alminaza to self-isolate and monitor themselves.
"We encourage those persons that he may have interacted with these past few days to observe home quarantine and cooperate with the authorities for proper health protocols," said Almario.
The Diocese of San Carlos asked the faithful to pray for the speedy recovery of Alminaza.
"We ask for everyone's prayers for this fast healing as well as for other COVID-19 patients. Let us continue as well to pray for those in the frontlines who are constantly taking risks to care for us," said Almario.
