P6-M worth of marijuana seized in Taguig buy-bust


Combined elements of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) seized Saturday, Sept. 18 a total of P6 million worth of marijuana leaves and plants from a drug suspect in a buy-bust operation in Barangay New Lower Bicutan, Taguig City.

PDEA Regional Office-National Capital Region (RO-NCR) Director III Christian Frivaldo identified the suspect as Fredo Diwan alias ‘Waliw’, farmer and resident of Kapangan, Benguet; HIs companion Agosto Antonio alias ‘Darrel’ eluded arrest.

He said the suspect was arrested based on the tip of a confidential informant who informed authorities that Diwan is engaged in the bulk delivery of marijuana in the Metro Manila southern district and nearby provinces.

Diwan is facing multiple charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) 9165 otherwise known as "The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002."

The entrapment operation was carried out by the PDEA RO-NCR Southern District Office (SDO) in coordination with the local PNP. (Chito A. Chavez)
