Illegal loggers apprehended in Kalinga

Four illegal loggers have been apprehended in Tabuk, Kalinga after they were caught in possession of acacia logs and a chainsaw.​

In a belated report, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) said the arrested individuals—identified as Vincent Dalanao, Archie Cadalina, Victor Manya-aw, and Fioni Tamaw—are now facing charges for violation of the Forestry Reform Code of the Philippines and the Chainsaw Act of 2002.

DENR apprehends four illegal loggers in Kalinga (DENR).

The four suspects may spend up spending four years in jail or face a P10,000 fine for violating the Forest Reform Code. They may also be jailed for a maximum of eight years and face a P50,000 fine for violating the Chainsaw Act, DENR said.

DENR Sec. Roy Cimatu said the operation, conducted on Sep. 2 by joint personnel of DENR and other anti-logging agencies, "proved once again that we are committed to constantly protect our environment and natural resources."
