DOH announces 23K additional COVID-19 cases

The Philippines recorded 23,134 additional coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases on Saturday, Sept. 18.

The new infections brought the total tally of active COVID-19 cases in the country to 184,088, the Department of Health (DOH) said.

Of the active cases, 90 percent are mild, five percent are asymptomatic, 0.6 percent are critical, 1.3 percent are severe, and 2.53 percent are moderate cases.

DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that 12 regions in the country were still classified as high-risk for COVID-19.

These are the National Capital Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Calabarzon, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Ilocos region, Caraga, Davao Region, Western Visayas, Soccsksargen, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Northern Mindanao.

The country's total confirmed number of cases has already reached 2,347,550 since the start of the pandemic last year.

The recovery count increased by 27,024 to 2,126,879 or 90.6 percent of the case total.

Meanwhile, the death toll also jumped to 36,583 after 255 more fatalities were logged.
