Teachers, personnel of DepEd equipped on home ownership essentials

To equip teaching and non-teaching personnel with knowledge on home financing and ownership, the Department of Education (DepEd) organized a webinar on the essentials of home ownership.

With the help of Pag-IBIG Fund, DepEd-Bureau of Human Resource and Organizational Development (BHROD) organized a webinar entitled “Gabay sa Pag-IBIG Housing” which highlighted existing and new housing loan programs of the Pag-IBIG Fund and how teachers and non-teaching personnel can avail them.

“We believe that our personnel should be entitled on understanding the salient features of the Housing Loan Programs being offered by Pag-IBIG and identify which programs will suit their housing requirements,” Education Secretary Leonor Briones said in a statement issued Friday, Sept. 17.

“Recognizing Pag-IBIG Fund’s crucial role in providing support to our employees, helping them acquire their own homes will help support, uphold, and secure their lives,” she added.

The webinar focused on two topics under the Pag-IBIG Housing Loan Programs, namely the agency’s End- User Home Financing, and Group Sale for the Repurchase of Pag-IBIG Fund Real and Other Properties Acquired (ROPA) Programs.

“We all know that housing has a crucial role in any strategy of economic and social well-being,” BHROD Director Atty. Anne Rachel Miguel said.

Miguel added that adequate shelter is one of individual's basic needs and decent housing is a universal goal. “Adequate housing accommodation is one of the essentials of a good life, and one of the requirements of a happy, efficient and satisfied workforce,” she added.

Held in August, DepEd said that participants can rewatch the webinars for Batches 1 (NCR and Central Office), Batch 2 (Region 1, 2, 3, and CAR), and Batch 3 (Regions IV-A CALABARZON, IV-B MIMAROPA, and V - Bicol Region), Batch 4 (Regions VI, VII, and VIII), and Batch 5 (Regions IX, X, XI, XII, and CARAGA) via Facebook live stream on the DepEd-BHROD Facebook page.

“For those of you who are planning to acquire your own homes, we highly encourage you to give your full attention to this webinar and take time to study Pag-IBIG’s current housing projects and interest rates, which are among the most competitive in the real estate market, hoping this webinar will serve as a catalyst to fulfill your cherished dream of owning a house and lot you can proudly call your own,” Miguel added.
