Two ordinances that grant financial assistance to government employees of Navotas were signed by Mayor Toby Tiangco on Thursday (Sept. 16).
Tiangco signed City Ordinances No. 2021-22 and No. 2021-23, implementing COVID-19 assistance programs for the city’s employees.
Under Ordinance No.2021-22, the bereaved family of city employees who died of COVID-19 will receive a one-time cash aid of P20,000 from the local government.
The deceased employee must have rendered service for at least three months or was involved in “high-risk COVID-19 related functions, regardless of months of service.”
Covered by the ordinance are employees who died due to COVID-19 from March 2020.
Ordinance 2021-23, meanwhile, aims to “recognize and reward” the city’s government employees for their commitment to the local government initiatives against COVID-19.
Under the ordinance, medical frontliners will receive P6,000; non-medical frontliners will get P3,000; and employees infected by COVID-19 from March 2020 to Sept. 15, 2021, will get P2,000.
“Every employee working in the City Government of Navotas will receive a corresponding numeration according to the nature of his work functions,” the ordinance stated.
Employees who have been re-infected with COVID-19 can receive an additional P2,000 from the government as long as they can present a “positive RT-PCR test result and medical certification from the Rural Health Physician.”
“All positive RT-PC test results that were classified as re-swab after initially testing positive for COVID-19 and not considered as reinfection are excluded from the count,” the ordinance stated.
