Three thousand additional vials of Remdisivir purchased by the local government of Manila were delivered to the city on Friday (Sept. 17).
The antiviral drug will be offered for free to COVID-19 patients admitted to hospitals in Manila.
“We will continue to find a way to overcome this pandemic that we are facing together. We are one boat, no one will be left behind,” Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso said.
The city had acquired 2,000 vials of Remdisivir in Aug 2020 and another 2,000 in March 2021.
Last month, Manila also received 900 vials of Tocilizumab, another COVID-19 treatment drug.
Domagoso has been underscoring the need for Remdisivir and Tocilizumab in addressing COVID-19 in the country.
Recently, the Manila mayor called on the national government to purchase antiviral drugs instead of face shields.
