LPA dissipates but ITCZ to still affect parts of PH -- PAGASA

The low pressure area (LPA) near Romblon has already dissipated but the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) may continue to affect parts of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Friday, Sept. 17.

PAGASA said the ITCZ is expected to bring light to moderate with at times heavy rains over Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Palawan at least in the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with possible isolated afternoon or evening rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA said this weather scenario may persist until the weekend.

By Monday until Friday, Sept. 20 to 24, PAGASA said the effect of the ITCZ will likely weaken due to its southward migration while easterlies will be the dominant weather system in the country.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have generally fair weather conditions except for isolated rain showers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening.

"Within the outlook period, Sept. 17 to 24, a slim chance of tropical cyclone development is expected. This outlook will be updated if significant changes in the weather pattern occur," PAGASA noted.
