PNP chief nudges spokesman Roque; says granular lockdown already in force in PH
Blame time zone differences for this minor boo-boo.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque mistakenly thought during a virtual press briefing Thursday noon, Sept. 16 that the granular lockdown scheme in Metro Manila was still forthcoming, even if was already being implemented.
This led to him being corrected awkwardly by Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, General Guillermo Eleazar, who was also part of the noon briefing (Philippine time).
"Chief, bukas po ay ipatutupad na ang granular lockdown bilang isang pilot sa Metro Manila. Kumusta na po ang ating kahandaan? (Tomorrow we will be implementing the granular lockdown under pilot phase in Metro Manila. How is our readiness?)" asked Roque, who left for New York in the United States (US) a week ago.
"Secretary...Roque, sir...Sir Harry, actually po, ipinatutupad na po natin ngayon dito (actually we're implementing it right now)," replied Eleazar.
"Ngayon po ay katanghalian na at nagsimula na kanina. At base po doon sa ulat ng ating mga commanders lalo na rito sa Metro Manila, generally peaceful, wala po tayong problema (Right now it is noon, it started earlier. And based on the report of the commanders especially from Metro Manila, it's been generally peaceful, we don't have any problems)," he said, nicely "saving" Roque from his time zone confusion.

The Palace official did acknowledge this mistake in his subsequent remarks.
"Maraming salamat chief Eleazar at salamat for the correction kasi, midnight po ngayon dito sa New York so nakakalimutan ko (Thank you very much chief Eleazar and I appreciate the correction because it's now midnight in New York and I keep forgetting), you are one day ahead of us."
When the virtual briefing began at Thursday noon in the Philippines, Roque's clock over at "The Big Apple" actually read Thursday midnight, Sept. 16, or a difference of 12 hours.
Roque is in New York for his nomination to the International Law Commission (ILC), which he described as "a group of experts in the field of international law". He said member-states of the United Nations (UN) will decide whether or not to give him a seat in the ILC.
The granular lockdowns Metro Manila--coupled with the new Alert Levels System or ALS--comprise the government's fresh approach to controlling the spread of the deadly coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
