Pasay City to host voting simulation for 2022 national, local polls

The Commission on Election (Comelec) has chosen Pasay City to host the “voting simulation” in preparation for the 2022 national and local elections.

Atty. Ronaldo Santiago, Pasay City Comelec officer, wrote a letter to Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano informing her that Pasay City was chosen to host the “voting simulation” on September 19 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Santiago said the simulation will be held at P. Zamora Elementary School and participants should be duly registered voters during the midterm 2019 National and Local Election from Barangays 110 and 113.

The Comelec is asking for Rubiano’s support and assistance to coordinate with the Pasay City Inter-Agency Task Force, Pasay City Health Office, Philippine National Police, Department of Education, Liga ng Barangay, Sanguniang Kabataan Federation, and the Public Information Office for the event.

The PIO was asked to intensify the information drive and encourage the participation of registered voters in the chosen barangays and ensure that the health protocols will be strictly implemented.

Rubiano was informed by Santiago that the conduct of “voting simulation” is essential to determine the policy and process on how the election shall be conducted while the country is in the midst of a pandemic.

The Comelec also wants to be assured of compliance with the health protocols and safety of every registered voter who will participate in the simulation activity.
