San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora announced on Thursday that he will seek re-election in the May 2022 elections.

Zamora made the announcement during the installation of “100% Fully Vaccinated” and “VIP (Vaccine Incentive Program)” stickers on several establishments in the city as proof that they are compliant with the quarantine rules and regulations set up by the government to combat COVID-19, together with Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Benhur Abalos.
"Ako po ay tatakbo for re-election as mayor of San Juan. Alam nyo po, nung tayo'y unang lumaban ay hindi ho tayo pinalad, ngunit patuloy ho tayong nagtiyaga and after three years ay nabigyan na ng pagkakataong maging mayor (I will run for re-election as mayor of San Juan. As you all know when I first ran, I was not fortunate enough to win. However, we continued to strive in doing our best and after three years, I was finally given a chance to become mayor)," Zamora said.
"Sa unang dalawang taon natin siguro ay naramdaman ng San Juan ang pagbabago sa pamamalakad sa ating lungsod. Even on a national level, San Juan is now being recognized dito nga sa vaccination program natin, una po ang San Juan na nakakamit ng herd immunity sa buong Pilipinas, at ito ay isang bagay na ikinatutuwa ng ating mga mamamayan ng lungsod sapagkat ramdam ho nila ang ating kaibahan sa pamamalakad, very hands-on, and they can see that their mayor is working every single day (In our first two years, I think the residents of San Juan felt the change in governance in our city. Even on a national level, San Juan is now being recognized for our vaccination program wherein San Juan was the very first area in the Philippines to reach herd immunity against COVID-19. This is one thing that our residents are happy about because they felt the change in governance in our city. Very hands-on and they can see that their mayor is working every single day)," he added.
The mayor assured that all of the city's efforts and programs in fighting the pandemic will continue and that he will create more ways in making the lives of San Juaneños better, despite the ongoing pandemic.
