LPA to dump rains over Visayas, Mindanao, other areas - PAGASA

The low pressure area (LPA) currently being monitored will bring rains over several parts of the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

State meteorologist said the weather disturbance embedded in the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) was last spotted at 150 kilometers (km) East Southeast of Guiuan, Eastern Samar as of 3 p.m.

The PAGASA said the weather disturbance is forecast to move generally west northwestward towards Eastern Visayas. But it noted that it is less likely to develop into a tropical cyclone in the next 24 hours.

Based on the 4 p.m. weather bulletin, the LPA and the ITCZ may bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms Visayas, Mindanao, Bicol Region, and Palawan.

Residents were warned against possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

As for Metro Manila and the rest of the country, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms may be experienced due to the prevailing ITCZ and localized thunderstorms.

In the next 24 hours, the state weather bureau said the LPA will bring moderate to heavy rains over Eastern Samar, Samar, Northern Samar, and Dinagat Islands.

Moreover, scattered light to moderate with at times heavy rains may also prevail over Zamboanga Peninsula, Bangsamoro, Surigao del Norte, and the rest of Visayas.
