Nearly 3,500 minors sign up for vaccination in Muntinlupa

More than 3,000 minors aged 12 to 17 years old registered on the first day of the Muntinlupa City government’s vaccination program.

The city government launched Tuesday the online vaccination registration for 12 to 17-year-old Muntinlupa residents.

According to the Muntinlupa City COVID-19 Vaccination Program (MunCoVac), a total of 3,477 minors registered for the vaccination program on the first day.

Based on the 2015 Census of Population by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Muntinlupa has a total population of 504,509.

Of the total, 51,796 individuals, or 10.27 percent, are aged 12 to 17. By age group, 8,257 are 12 years old; 8,166, 13 years old; 8,620, 14 years old; 9,064, 15 years old; 8,501, 16 years old; and 9,188, 17 years old.

As of Sept. 8, the Muntinlupa City government administered a total of 507,964 vaccines, according to figures from MunCoVac.

A total of 192,360 individuals are now fully vaccinated in Muntinlupa, or 49.9 percent of the target population of 385,725, or 70 percent of the estimated total population of 551,036. In addition, 319,963 individuals got their first dose, or 83 percent of the total target.

Several local government units (LGUs) in the National Capital Region (NCR) have also started registering 12 to 17 years old for vaccination. The government has yet to announce the start of the vaccination for the age group.

The country’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had earlier agreed to amend the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) given to Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines to make them available for use for 12 years old and above.

Muntinlupa residents aged 12 to 17 may register online through the city’s COVID-19 vaccination registration system at www.vaccine.muntinlupacity.gov.ph/muncovac and choose category “C – Rest of Population.”
