Mandaluyong City opens new COVID-19 modular hospital

As the country continues to battle the pandemic, the Mandaluyong City local government inaugurated on Wednesday its new COVID-19 Modular Hospital located at the National Center for Mental Health (NCMH) compound.

The opening of the modular hospital, which serves as an isolation and dormitory facility for COVID-19 patients and healthcare workers, was spearheaded by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in partnership with the Mandaluyong City local government unit (LGU), NCMH, Department of Health (DOH), and the Inter Agency Task Force (IATF).

According to the officials, the modular hospital contains 80 air-conditioned rooms for COVID-19 patients, four air-conditioned rooms for healthcare professionals, a 40-foot. container van which serves as a doctor/nurse’s room, a laboratory and x-ray room, and a 20-foot container van used as an electrical room.

The project also includes 48 air-conditioned rooms for COVID-19 health workers, two laundry/utility rooms, and two kitchen/pantries.

The LGU said that the facility will boost the city’s response to the pandemic and help ease the number of COVID-19 patients being admitted to hospitals.

As of Sept. 14, there are now 903 active COVID-19 cases, 20,378 recoveries, and 482 deaths in Mandaluyong.
