DepEd thanks personnel, parents for supporting learning continuity amidst the pandemic

After breaching the turnout of the previous school year’s enrollment, the Department of Education (DepEd) on Wednesday, Sept. 15, thanked its personnel as well as the parents of students for supporting the continuity of learning despite the challenges brought by the ongoing coronavirus disease (COVID-19) situation in the country.

“We thank our field offices, school heads, and teachers for their dedication and hard work in encouraging the public to enroll,” DepEd said.

“Likewise, we are grateful to the parents of our learners who continue to put their trust and support in DepEd and for learning continuity amidst the pandemic,” it added.

DepEd, on the third day of classes in public schools for School Year (SY) 2021-2022 has recorded more enrollees compared to SY 2020-2021.

The agency said it was “happy to announce” that the current enrollment figure for newly-opened school year has already breached the turnout of last school year.

As of Sept. 15, DepEd enrollment data showed that there are 26,308,875 learners registered for this school year or 100.3 percent compared to last year’s enrollment.

The data, DepEd said, also showed that 11 out of 17 regions have achieved more than 100 percent enrollment rate.

This, the agency added, indicated that learners who did not enroll last year are “returning” in the basic education system.

“We are still expecting the figure to increase since enrollment is extended until September 30,” DepEd said.

In SY 2020-2021, DepEd has recorded 26, 227, 022 enrollees for both public and private schools nationwide.
