Metro Manila back to shorter curfew hours starting Sept. 16

Shorter curfew hours will be implemented when the National Capital Region shifts to general community quarantine (GCQ) with an Alert Level 4 classification, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) disclosed on Tuesday, Sept. 14.

From the 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. curfew hours, MMDA Chairman Benhur Abalos said it would be shortened to 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. starting Sept. 16.

"Ang curfew ngayon ay alas otso ng gabi. So ito po'y iniuusad na, nagbotohan kami, ilalabas namin ang resolution na implementasyon nito ay isasabay sa pilot. Magiging 1o ng gabi to 4 ng umaga ang curfew hours (The curfew now starts at 8 p.m. So we voted and we will release a resolution to implement a 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. curfew when the pilot implementation of the alert levels is in place)," Abalos said during a televised briefing.

He said the new curfew hours were decided during the recent meeting of Metro Manila mayors.

The entire Metro Manila will be placed under Alert Level 4 starting Sept. 16. Under this, those below the age of 18 and over the age of 65, those with comorbidity, and pregnant women will not be allowed to leave their homes unless for obtaining goods and services, or for work. Those not mentioned are allowed to undertake intrazonal and interzonal travel subject to regulations of the cities of their destinations.

Individual outdoor exercises will be allowed for all ages but shall be limited within their barangay. Minimum public health standards must be followed at all times.

Indoor dine-in services may be allowed at up to 10 percent seating capacity but will only cater to fully vaccinated individuals. Personal care establishments are also allowed to operate at a limited 10 percent indoor seating capacity but may only cater to fully vaccinated individuals.

Workers in these establishments must also be fully-vaccinated against COVID-19.
